These Glow Widow Tetra fish are NOT dyed, tattooed, or otherwise unnaturally tampered with. Glow Widow Tetra are selectively bred to have their fantastic coloration, so they are born with it. At no point are these fish ever harmed in any way, which cannot be said for color-injected or dyed fish.
While fluorescent fish do occur naturally in the environment, these were selectively bred by scientists to exhibit fluorescent colors throughout their life spans.
Since then, more species of fish have been given the fluorescent gene and more colors have become available. The Glow Widow Tetra we have to offer here at Best4Pets are all tetras (specifically white skirt tetras) and are all bred from the offspring of fluorescent fish. Each Glow Widow Tetra inherits the electric color directly from its parents, keeps the color all its life, and then passes the color on to its offspring.
RECOMMENDED TANK PARAMETERS:
- pH level range: 6.0 - 7.5
- Temperature range: 72° - 82° F
- Water type: Soft
- Recommended tank mates: Larger shrimp species (such as Bamboo, Vampire, or Amano shrimp.), snails (such as Mystery Snails, Sulawesi Snails, etc.), other non-aggressive fish (such as Danios, Otocinclus, Corydoras, etc.).
- Additional notes: Water parameters and care requirements are the same as white skirt tetras and most other tetras. They eat most fish foods, including flakes and pellets, as well as small foods such as brine shrimp, daphnia, freeze-dried blood worms, and tubifex. These fish prefer to live in tanks with live aquatic plants for cover (such as java moss, Anubias barteri, green cabomba, etc.)
