- A unique predatory fish found throughout South America, the Hujeta or Silver Gar is not a true gar but related to tetras and other characins. Although they will readily hunt and eat fish smaller than they are, these fish are fairly peaceful towards appropriately-sized tankmates and will do best in small groups. They are fairly hardy fish, and will thrive in a variety of water parameters. Hujeta Gars are surface-dwelling fish, and will jump if given the opportunity so a tight fitting lid is essential.
